Product Description
This is a pattern to make your own Bop Bear friend - such a sweet face for children or for your home. He is an amigurumi friend, worked entirely using double crochet stitches (US single crochet). I have included some pictures along the way to help you understand and follow along to have a happy crochet time, and also included is a little methods sheet to help show you how I do things.
He is a simple pattern to use your crochet skills, his legs and body and head are worked in one piece, with little arms, ears and muzzle sewn on afterwards. A satisfying little project!
I recommend a dk yarn and 3.5mm hook - Using the suggested gauge he is 20cm tall and 17cm around his tummy. I love to always use my favourite pastel colours for my amigurumi friends but would love to see your colour experiments! He doesn't take up a lot of yarn though so maybe he would be a good one to help you use up some of your old balls.
Bop Bear Crochet Toy by Emily Hanscomb
What is Being Made
Bop Bear is a friendly crocheted animal companion designed as a beginner-level crochet toy project. This downloadable PDF pattern from independent designer Emily Hanscomb provides complete instructions for creating an adorable bear character suitable for crafters new to amigurumi and toy construction.
Construction Method
The Bop Bear is constructed in a continuous spiral method, worked in rounds rather than traditional rows. The bear is created as a single integrated piece, beginning from the feet and building upward to complete the entire toy without requiring assembly of separate components. This seamless construction approach simplifies the building process and creates a cohesive finished animal.
Crochet Techniques and Stitches
This beginner-friendly pattern utilizes fundamental crochet techniques appropriate for crafters developing their foundational skills. The round-by-round construction method teaches consistent stitch work and shaping through increases and decreases. While the PDF content excerpt does not detail every specific stitch used throughout the pattern, the beginner difficulty rating indicates the pattern relies on essential crochet stitches and straightforward shaping techniques that are accessible to those new to the craft.
Materials Required
- Yarn: DK weight yarn in three coordinating colors (Colour A serves as the main color, with two additional colors for contrast and detail work)
- Tools: Appropriate crochet hook sized for DK weight yarn
