Yarn and Materials

Yarn: The pattern calls for 437 yards (400 meters) of fingering weight yarn. The sample shown was knitted using Smash Knits Super Sock yarn, which contains 85% Superwash Merino and 15% Nylon, totaling 100 grams. This blend provides durability and easy care for everyday sock wear.

Needles and Tools: US 1.5 (2.5mm) needles are required. Knitters have flexibility in their sock knitting method and may use double-pointed needles (DPNs), Magic Loop technique, 9-inch circular needles, or two circular needles according to their preference. Additional tools include a cable needle, two different stitch markers (for marking sections A and B), a darning needle for Kitchener stitch and weaving in ends, and a beading tool (the designer used a US 12, 1mm crochet hook).

Notions: Size 8 seed beads are required for the decorative beading. The sample used 68 seed beads total, with the designer adding 3 beads for every 4 branches as a general ratio. However, knitters can customize the bead count based on their preferences—using just a few beads, beads on every branch, or only a single star bead.
