This pattern is written in English only. The PDF file contains full instructions for knitting and finishing off a badger with knitted on knickers/panties and shoes and a choice of two removable dresses. Once paid for it is available for you to instantly download. Finished size: approx 23cm (9 inches) from the tip of the toes to the top of the head.
The badger is knitted flat with worsted weight yarn on 3mm needles and 4ply/fingering weight yarn on 2.5mm for the shoes, socks and lower body. All pieces are seamed afterwards. You will need to use the intarsia technique for the badgers head.
The dresses are knitted flat using fingering/4ply yarn on 2.75mm needles and seamed. One is knitted in two colours in stranded colourwork and the other in a single colour with a textured design.
This is an intermediate-level knitted toy pattern for a charming badger character dressed in clothing. The design includes the badger figure itself along with a complete outfit consisting of a dress, knickers, and shoes. This is a downloadable PDF pattern suitable for knitters looking to create a finished stuffed toy with detailed garment elements.
The badger body is constructed using Cascade 220 worsted yarn in three coordinating colors: 8010 Natural (Yarn A) for the main body, 4002 Jet (Yarn B) for dark markings, and 9491 Greystone Heather (Yarn C) for mid-tone details. The dress, knickers, and shoes are made from Drops Safran yarn in 20 Rust and 18 White. The pattern requires approximately 15 meters of cream yarn, 35 meters of black or very dark grey yarn, and 15 meters of mid to light grey yarn. Both worsted weight and light Aran weight yarns are suitable for this project.
This pattern requires three different needle sizes to achieve proper gauge and construction: 3mm (US 2.5), 2.75mm (US 2), and 2.5mm (US 1.5) needles. A tapestry needle is essential for seaming pieces together and weaving in yarn ends during finishing.
As an intermediate-level project, this pattern employs standard knitting techniques appropriate for toy construction. The multi-colored badger body likely uses intarsia or stranded colorwork methods to create the natural badger markings and color blocking. The use of three progressively smaller needle sizes indicates decreasing techniques to shape the toy pieces, including the head, body, and limbs. The garment components (dress, knickers, and shoes) require shaping through increases and decreases to create fitted pieces. Seaming techniques are necessary to assemble the various knitted components into the finished three-dimensional toy.
The pattern includes step-by-step photography to guide knitters through construction. The designer has used lighter yarn colors in instructional photos for clarity, while the finished piece showcases the authentic color palette. This attention to detail in pattern presentation supports knitters working at the intermediate skill level.
