Anchor Herein-spaziert! Embroidery Design
What Is Being Made
The Anchor Herein-spaziert! design creates a decorative wall hanging or banner featuring a winter snow landscape motif. This beginner-friendly embroidery project combines traditional needlework with embellished details, resulting in a finished piece suitable for seasonal home décor or gifting.
Primary Craft and Techniques
This is an embroidery project designed by Anchor Studio for crafters of all levels, particularly beginners. The design employs fundamental embroidery techniques including hand stitching with embroidery thread on a linen base fabric. The construction involves careful measurement and positioning of the central motif, hemming techniques, and decorative finishing methods to create a polished final piece.
Stitches Used
The Herein-spaziert! design utilizes three primary embroidery stitches:
- Cross Stitch — creates the foundation of the snow landscape motif with dimensional texture
- Backstitch (Steppstich) — used to outline and define the central design, positioned 15 cm from the lower fabric edge
- Equilateral Star Stitch — adds decorative detail and visual interest to the embroidered landscape
Materials and Tools
The project requires Anchor Sticktwist embroidery thread in two colors: white (#00001) for the primary snow landscape design and beige (#04529) for accent work. A Mez Duet sewing thread in beige (#04529, Art. Nr. 4644100) provides structural support for finishing.
The base fabric is a 67 cm linen ribbon in natural color with a gold-trimmed edge (11 threads per cm), measuring 20 cm in width. This provides an elegant foundation with built-in decorative detailing.
Essential tools include a ball-point wool needle size 24 for embroidery work and a sewing needle size 7 for finishing seams. The design incorporates three glass test tubes (25 mm diameter, 15 cm length), decorative beads for the embroidered image, additional beads for wire-mounted holders, brass wire for structural support, and ribbon attachments for hanging.
Construction Details
The embroidery is worked three-ply over two fabric threads, a standard tension for even, professional-looking stitches. Fabric edges are finished with a zigzag stitch to prevent fraying. The snow landscape motif is centered horizontally on the ribbon and positioned 15 cm from the lower edge using backstitch for precise placement. The upper ribbon end is folded 2.5 cm to the left and pressed, then hemmed with a 2 cm seam allowance. The lower fabric edge is finished with decorative lace edging, adding an elegant touch to the completed hanging.
