Product Description
I designed this wreath as part of the March 2020 Pinterest Challenge, hosted by County Road 407. The inspiration comes from the Garden Hose Spring Wreath from "Create Craft Love". Key elements that stuck out to me were: teal base, red and yellow flowers (that I took for orange) and a yellow bow. It’s named after my mom - Ana. She LOVES to garden, and with a garden theme, it only seemed fitting for this one to be made for her.
Materials You'll Need: Worsted Weight Yarn - I used 185 Yards + Small Amount for Hanger of Red Heart's Ombre in Spearmint (Wreath Base & Hanger), and Red Heart's Super Saver in Pumpkin (Flowers), Bright Yellow (Bow), and Tea Leaf (Leaves), H8/5mm Crochet Hook, Hot Glue Gun and Sticks, 9 6mm beads, 12" styrofoam wreath.
Yarn Alternatives: Bernat’s Super Value Yarn, Caron’s One Pound.
Time Spent: This wreath took about 4 hours, 45 minutes.
Gauge: 20 SC by 14 Rows = 6 1/8″ Wide by 3 7/8″ Tall
Ana's Garden Wreath Crochet Pattern
Project Overview
Ana's Garden Wreath is a decorative crochet wreath designed by Alexandra EyeLoveKnots as an independent designer creation. This intermediate-level project combines traditional wreath-making with crochet techniques to produce a vibrant, three-dimensional garden-themed wall decoration. The wreath was designed as part of the March 2020 Pinterest Challenge hosted by County Road 407, drawing inspiration from garden-themed home décor aesthetics.
What You'll Create
This pattern produces a complete decorative wreath featuring a teal-colored circular base with attached crocheted flowers, leaves, and a bow. The finished piece celebrates a garden theme with warm accent colors including red, orange, and yellow florals set against cool-toned foliage. The wreath is suitable for seasonal or year-round home decoration and makes a thoughtful handmade gift for gardening enthusiasts.
Materials Required
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn totaling approximately 185 yards plus additional yardage for the hanger. Specific yarn used includes Red Heart's Ombre in Spearmint for the wreath base and hanger, Red Heart's Super Saver in Pumpkin for flowers, Bright Yellow for the bow, and Tea Leaf for leaves
- Hook: H8/5mm crochet hook
- Additional Supplies: Tapestry needle for weaving in ends, hot glue gun with glue sticks, and small beads for flower centers
Crochet Techniques and Construction
This intermediate-level project employs fundamental crochet techniques to construct multiple components that are assembled into the finished wreath. The pattern requires understanding of basic stitches and shaping methods typical of worsted weight yarn projects. Construction involves creating the circular wreath base, individual flower elements, leaf components, and a decorative bow, which are then attached using both crochet methods and hot glue adhesive.
Design Elements
The wreath features a cohesive color palette centered on a teal base with warm floral accents. The design incorporates orange and red flowers as primary focal points, complemented by yellow bow detailing and green leaf elements. Small beads serve as flower centers, adding dimensional detail and visual interest to the finished piece. The combination of cool and warm tones creates a balanced, garden-inspired aesthetic suitable for various interior design styles.
