Product Description
DESCRIPTION
This pattern is meant for those cozy days curled up by the fire. This design sports a 5.5-7.5”/14-19cm positive ease frame, a thick V-neck border that is mirrored in the back, a colorblock body (perfect so you don’t have to decided between your two favourite colors!), and the cutest I-cord tie details on the back to keep it from slipping off your shoulders. Tie them tighter for a more secure feeling, or tie them loose for an off the shoulder type look and feel.
Note: This sweater is worked in the round from the bottom up and then split up into four sectionS - two V-neck panels in the front and mirrored V-neck panels in the back. After completing these sections you will use the three needle bind off technique to join your shoulder seams together.
This pattern has been tested in all sizes.
DIFFICULTY Intermediate You will need to know how to cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, work in the round, decrease, knit flat, bind off
Materials needed: 6+5mm needles, Size 4 worsted yarn

What is Being Made
The All Tied Up Sweater is a cozy knitted pullover designed for relaxed, comfortable wear. This sweater features a distinctive thick V-neck border that is mirrored at the back, creating a balanced and visually interesting neckline design. The garment is constructed to provide 5.5 to 7.5 inches of positive ease, making it an ideal choice for layering or for those who prefer a relaxed fit. The sweater is intended for comfortable, casual wear on cozy days.
Knitting Techniques and Construction
The All Tied Up Sweater is worked in the round using circular needles, which allows for seamless construction and even fabric development. The body is knitted in stockinette stitch, the fundamental knit stitch pattern that creates a smooth, classic fabric surface. The sweater employs a two-color construction with Color A and Color B yarns, adding visual interest and design complexity to the finished piece. The pattern includes I-cord straps, which are decorative or functional cord elements created using double-pointed needles, adding a refined detail to the design.
Stitches Used
- Stockinette Stitch: The primary stitch pattern used for the body of the sweater, worked in the round on larger needles to create the main fabric
- I-Cord: A specialized cord technique created using double-pointed needles for the strap details
- Ribbing: Used for the V-neck border and other finishing edges, worked on smaller needles to create elasticity and structure
Materials and Yarn Requirements
The All Tied Up Sweater is designed to be knitted with worsted weight yarn, classified as category 4. The pattern calls for Lion Brand Feels Like Butta yarn or a comparable worsted weight alternative. Yardage requirements vary by size: smaller sizes (S, M, L) require 3 balls of yarn in each color, totaling approximately 550 to 600 meters (600 to 700 yards) per color. Larger sizes (XL, 2XL, 3XL) require 4 balls of yarn in each color, totaling approximately 640 to 700 meters (700 yards) per color. This substantial yardage ensures the sweater has good structure and warmth.
Needles and Tools
The pattern requires multiple needle sizes to accommodate different sections of the sweater. A Size US 10/6 mm circular needle measuring 32 inches (82 cm) is used for the main body, worked in stockinette stitch at a gauge of 15 stitches and 20 rows per 4 inches. Smaller Size US 8/5 mm circular needles in both 32-inch (82 cm) and 16-inch (40 cm) lengths are used for ribbed sections and the neckline, providing the necessary tension for elastic edgings. Additionally, Size US 8/5 mm double-pointed needles are required for creating the I-cord straps. The pattern also calls for stitch markers, including one beginning-of-round marker and two locking stitch markers, to track pattern repeats and construction points.
Difficulty Level
While the product attributes indicate a beginner difficulty level, the PDF content specifies an intermediate difficulty level. This pattern is best suited for knitters with foundational experience in circular knitting, stockinette stitch, and basic color work. The two-color construction and I-cord technique require intermediate skills and familiarity with working in the round.
