What is Being Made

Alba is a pair of knitted socks designed by Lauren Rose for maximum visual impact with minimal knitting effort. The pattern creates a striking visual effect that is revealed when the finished sock is turned right-side out, making it an engaging project for knitters who enjoy discovering the final design as they complete their work. The socks are sized to fit foot circumferences of 7, 8, 9, or 10 inches (18, 20.5, 23, or 25.5 centimeters) and are designed to be worn with approximately 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) of negative ease for a secure, comfortable fit.

Techniques Used

Materials and Yarn

The sample shown in the pattern was knitted using Miss Babs Hot Shot in Ocean Breeze. The project requires approximately 300 to 400 yards (275 to 365 meters) of yarn to complete. Knitters will need appropriate needles for working with fingering weight yarn in the round, typically sized to achieve the correct gauge for a secure, well-fitting sock.
