I love the design, but I need more videos and better pictures because I got to the part where there were no more videos after video number 6, and I honestly don't know if I will be able to finish this project. The instructions say to place the stitches on double pointed needles, and nothing, no pictures or videos show how to do this. I have no idea what to do next, tbh.

Alba Bonnet by Sophiaknits87
Project Overview
The Alba Bonnet is a downloadable knitting pattern designed by independent designer Sophiaknits87. This project creates a classic bonnet-style hat using intermediate-level knitting techniques. The pattern is formatted as a PDF for personal use and is suitable for knitters with advanced beginner to intermediate skill levels.
What Is Being Made
The Alba Bonnet is a structured hat featuring decorative ties. The bonnet includes two I-cord ties that measure approximately 22-24 cm in length, which frame the face and can be tied under the chin. The design combines functional construction with traditional bonnet styling, making it a versatile accessory suitable for various occasions and seasons.
Knitting Techniques Used
This pattern employs several key knitting techniques to create its finished structure:
- I-Cord Cast On: The pattern utilizes the I-Cord Cast On method, a specialized technique that creates a decorative, tubular edge. This technique involves slipping newly knitted stitches back to the left-hand needle one by one, knitting the next stitch in both the back and front loops before sliding off the completed stitch, then tightening the yarn and knitting 2 additional stitches. This process is repeated until the desired number of stitches plus 3 are cast on.
- I-Cord Construction: The tie sections are created using the I-cord method, which produces a smooth, rounded cord. The I-cord begins with casting on 3 stitches and knitting these stitches normally from the left needle to the right.
- Decreasing: The pattern incorporates the P2tog (purl 2 together) stitch for shaping and construction.
Stitches Used
The Alba Bonnet pattern uses fundamental knitting stitches combined with specialized shaping methods:
- Knit (K): The primary stitch used throughout the bonnet construction
- Purl (P): Used for textural variation and pattern elements
- Purl 2 Together (P2tog): A decrease stitch used for shaping the bonnet
- Cast On and Slip Stitches: Essential techniques for beginning the I-cord ties and managing stitches throughout the pattern
Materials and Tools Required
The Alba Bonnet pattern calls for specific materials and equipment to complete the project:
- Yarn Weight: DK (Double Knit) weight yarn, which provides a lightweight yet durable fabric suitable for bonnet construction
- Needles: Circular needles in 3.5 mm/US 4 size for the main bonnet body, plus 4 double-pointed needles (dpn) in 3.5 mm for I-cord tie construction
- Notions: 1 stitch marker for tracking pattern repeats and construction points, and a yarn needle for weaving in ends and finishing
Pattern Notes
The pattern is designed for personal use only and is not to be distributed without permission from Sophiaknits87. The design includes reference to video tutorials (video1) to assist knitters in understanding the I-Cord Cast On technique, which is essential for successfully completing this project. The pattern is copyright Sophiaknits 2021.
