Product Description
This beautiful triangular shawl features an eye-catching, all-over cable pattern that transitions into a matching ribbed border. Worked sideways from one tip to the opposite edge makes this shawl fun to knit and easy to wear.
I designed this pattern for worsted weight yarn but since the pattern is fully adjustable, you could easily use a different yarn weight and/or yardage from your stash if you prefer and make it any size you like.
This pattern is an addictive knit with a beautiful result. The finished shawl will add a classic & cosy item to your favourite wardrobe staple.

Aglais Triangular Shawl by Lisa Hannes
What is Being Made
Aglais is a triangular shawl designed by Lisa Hannes of maliha designs. This knitted accessory features an eye-catching, all-over cable pattern throughout the body of the shawl, complemented by a matching ribbed cable border. The shawl is constructed using a sideways knitting method, creating an asymmetrical triangular shape that drapes beautifully as a finished garment.
Construction Method and Shaping
The Aglais shawl is knit sideways, beginning at the right tip with just a few stitches. Knitters work their way across toward the left edge, with increases worked along the top edge to gradually build the triangular silhouette. This sideways construction method allows for controlled shaping and makes it easy to adjust the final dimensions of the shawl to suit individual preferences.
Stitches and Techniques Used
The primary stitch technique featured in Aglais is cable knitting, which creates the distinctive textured pattern that runs throughout the shawl. The cables transition into a ribbed cable border at the edges, adding definition and structure to the finished piece. The pattern includes both fully written instructions and charted instructions, allowing knitters to choose their preferred method of following the pattern. Row numbering is consistent across both written and charted versions for easy reference.
Yarn and Materials
Aglais is written for worsted weight yarn, making it an accessible project for knitters working with medium-weight fibers. The pattern is easily adjustable, allowing crafters to substitute different yarn weights if desired. Knitters will need appropriate needles for worsted weight yarn and basic knitting supplies to complete this project.
Skill Level
This pattern is rated as beginner difficulty, making it suitable for knitters who are new to shawl construction and cable techniques. The clear instructions in both written and charted formats support knitters at various learning stages.
