Product Description
I love the connotations that come with the phrase “a little something”, feelings of joy and excitement stemming from a surprise thoughtful gift, a treat or more than you were expecting.
In all my designs I try to add “a little something” that helps you, the knitter, get the most out of my patterns. Whether it’s a pattern stitch reminder, some space for notes and tips or tricks I think you might find helpful or handy. This pattern is no exception! I have included instructions to make your own “Mini Me” sock at the back.

A Little Something... Socks by Loulabella Knits
Project Overview
A Little Something... is a downloadable knitting pattern designed by Louise Skelding of Loulabella Knits. This sock pattern is crafted using 4-ply yarn and is classified as an intermediate-level project, making it suitable for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to develop their technique further.
What Is Being Made
This pattern provides instructions for knitting a pair of socks. The design philosophy emphasizes adding "a little something" extra to the knitting experience—a concept that extends beyond the finished garment itself. The pattern includes bonus instructions for creating a miniature version of the socks, referred to as a "Mini Me" sock, allowing knitters to experiment with the design at a smaller scale or create a coordinating accessory.
Techniques and Construction
The socks are worked using the round method, which is the traditional approach for sock construction. This technique involves working continuously in circular rows rather than flat pieces, creating a seamless, tubular fabric that conforms naturally to the foot. The pattern is designed to be worked on 2.5 mm double-pointed needles (DPNs), the standard tool for small-circumference circular knitting.
Stitches Used
The primary stitch structure is stocking stitch (also called stockinette stitch), worked in the round. Stocking stitch creates the smooth, classic knit fabric commonly seen in everyday socks, with a neat appearance on the outside and a reverse texture on the inside. When worked circularly, stocking stitch produces continuous knit stitches on every round, resulting in a polished, professional finish.
Materials and Gauge
This pattern calls for 4-ply yarn, a lightweight yarn weight that produces a durable, well-fitting sock with excellent stitch definition. The specified gauge is 33 stitches by 45 rounds over a 10-centimeter (4-inch) square in stocking stitch when worked in the round on 2.5 mm DPNs. Achieving the correct gauge is essential for proper sock fit and is worked on the specified needle size or whatever size is needed to match this gauge.
Pattern Features
Beyond the main sock instructions, the pattern incorporates designer touches intended to enhance the knitting experience. These include pattern stitch reminders to help knitters maintain consistency, dedicated space for personal notes, and helpful tips and tricks from the designer. The inclusion of "Mini Me" sock instructions demonstrates the designer's commitment to providing added value and creative inspiration to knitters using the pattern.
