Pattern Summary: 1106 Lakeside – Women's Lace Jumper Knitting Pattern by Julie Turjoman

The 1106 Lakeside is a beautifully designed women's knitting pattern created by Julie Turjoman and published by Valley Yarns. This intermediate-level pattern produces a figure-skimming, warm-weather tee featuring an elaborate lace panel flowing down the front, a classic boat neck, and cap sleeves. The garment is worked seamlessly from the top down, making it an excellent project for knitters who are comfortable with circular knitting and lace techniques but are ready to take on a more refined, structured design.

What Is Being Made

The finished garment is a women's pullover tee — a lightweight, close-fitting jumper designed for warm weather. It features a wide central lace panel on the front, raglan shoulder shaping, a boat neckline, and cap sleeves. The pattern also includes optional instructions for ¾-length sleeves, giving knitters the flexibility to create a more covered version of the same design. The tee falls to the high hip and can be lengthened by working additional length and lace repeats, making it adaptable to individual preferences. It is designed to fit with 1–2 inches of positive ease, giving it a body-skimming silhouette that works equally well for casual wear and more dressed-up occasions.

Sizes and Finished Measurements

The pattern is available in nine sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, and 5XL. The sample shown in the pattern is knitted in Size S. Finished bust measurements range from 31¾ inches to 59¾ inches, and finished hip measurements range from 32¼ inches to 60¼ inches, making this an inclusive pattern with a wide range of sizing options.

Techniques Used

  • Top-down construction: The entire garment is begun at the neckline and worked downward, allowing knitters to try on the piece as they go and adjust fit before completing the body.
  • Seamless, worked in the round: Using circular needles throughout, this pattern eliminates the need for seaming, resulting in a clean, polished finish with no sewing required at the end.
  • Raglan yoke shaping: Increase shaping is used at the raglan lines to build the yoke and create the cap sleeves, a classic technique that integrates sleeve and body construction elegantly.
  • Lace panel: A wide, elaborate lace panel is centered on the front of the garment and flows from the yoke down to the hem. Working lace in the round requires careful attention to stitch markers and chart reading, making this a rewarding challenge for intermediate knitters.
  • Waist shaping: Decrease and increase rounds are worked into the body to create a subtly fitted silhouette that follows the natural curve of the waist and hip.
  • Optional ¾-length sleeves: The pattern includes a sleeve length variation, giving knitters the choice between cap sleeves and longer ¾-length sleeves.

Stitches Used

  • Stockinette stitch: The primary background stitch used throughout the body and sleeves, worked in the round as knit stitches on every round. Gauge is measured in stockinette: 24 stitches and 32 rows equal 4 inches when blocked.
  • Lace stitches: The central front panel features lace patterning, which typically involves yarn-overs paired with decreases to create decorative openwork. The crisp stitch definition of the yarn used makes the lace motifs particularly striking.
  • Raglan increases: Paired increases worked at eight marked raglan points to shape the yoke and cap sleeves.

Materials: Yarn, Needles, and Notions

The pattern is written specifically for Valley Yarns Granville, a sport-weight yarn with a fiber composition of 90% Pima Cotton and 10% Merino Wool. Each hank contains 50 grams and 167 yards. The sample is knitted in Color 08 – Pacific

A Good Company

I have started Knitting the Poncho which is really nice, but I didn’t realise it was an American Pattern until I down loaded it and started to read the Pattern. It doesn’t explain how many balls of Wool is required, well it’s strange it does but not in the way our patterns do so it’s a bit hit or miss when I tried to work it out. I’m knitting in plain knittting at the moment so I’m hoping I can understand the Pattern at the top of the Poncho but I’m going to have a go and hope for the best. If...
