Hello folks. I made some booties for a colleague whose partner had had a baby (I hadn’t known she was expecting, and I needed a quick gift), and I found the pattern I used was unnecessarily fiddly. This one is simplified, and has a seam along the bottom and up the back, but since it is for a newborn-to-six-month size, the kid won’t be walking and so it shouldn’t matter, as long as you do the seam neatly so it doesn’t rub. Most parents would probably put socks under booties anyway, especially in cold weather.

For Christmas, maybe make these in red with a white rib top? Otherwise just use up your scraps of DK yarn, they use very little! To make it a bit fancier, the four knit stitches that are in the middle in the last few rows before the rib (and their pearls on the back) could be a different colour, too.
