Although feminine and elegant, this hat was described by one knitter as 'the warmest hat ever!' I came up with the original version for my toddler, but once she started wearing it, grown –up friends of mine started requesting their own versions for everything from dog walking to the lambing season, thanks in particular to its double thickness ear-warming qualities. You could put your own stamp on the faux button closure by using alternative decoration such as a vintage brooch or knitted corsage.
