Madmonkeyknits started because my sister asked me to knit a toy meerkat for her daughter Freddie. They had been following the story of a family of meerkats in a local sanctuary but the babies had died because it had snowed in Cornwall.

The meerkat family I made for little Freddie was so popular soon all of her friends in Cornwall wanted them too so I typed up the pattern for their mums to make them and it just grew from there. I popped it on Ebay and due to the Compare The Meerkat advert it was incredibly popular.

So here is my FREE Meerkat Family knitting pattern for you all to enjoy.The knitting pattern provides full written instructions to make meerkats in 4 sizes, 2 adult and 2 baby. By using different yarns each meerkat takes on its own unique character as can be seen here.
