Product Description

This blanket is the perfect gift for weddings, special birthdays or other big events. Ideal for beginners, as there are no complicated stitches or techniques.

It takes a bit of time to knit because of the size but you can go at it at your own peace and take it one square at a time. I always have an ongoing easy block blanket in my project stash for when I want to knit without needing to think after a long and hard day at work.

Materials - Yarn: you can use any type, fiber or size you want. The only important thing is to use the same type and material for all the colors. For the blanket on the pictures, I used different colors of Royal yarn from Zeeman.

-Needles: Choose the needle size that corresponds to the yarn you are using. I like using needles that are a little bit bigger rather than smaller for this pattern as it gives you a more fluid blanket. For me, that is 4.5mm needles with this yarn.

Block Blanket Knitting Pattern

What is Being Made

The Block Blanket is a modular knitted throw designed by Knitting with Chopsticks. This blanket is constructed from individual squares that are knitted separately and then assembled together, making it an ideal project for crafters who prefer to work on manageable sections rather than one large piece. The finished blanket is suitable as a gift for weddings, special birthdays, and other significant occasions.

Project Structure and Approach

This pattern uses a block-by-block construction method, allowing knitters to complete the project at their own pace. Each square can be worked independently, making this blanket perfect for ongoing projects that require minimal concentration. The modular design means you can set the project aside and return to it whenever convenient, without needing to maintain complex stitch counts or pattern sequences across a large surface.

Knitting Techniques Used

The Block Blanket employs fundamental knitting techniques suitable for beginners. The pattern relies on straightforward block construction, where individual squares are knitted as separate units before being joined together. This approach eliminates the need for complex shaping or intricate stitch manipulation across the entire blanket, making it accessible to knitters developing their foundational skills.

Yarn and Materials

This pattern is designed to work with aran weight yarn, a medium-weight yarn that provides good stitch definition and reasonable knitting speed. The project uses standard knitting needles appropriate for aran yarn weight. The modular block construction means you can work through the pattern without managing excessive stitches on your needles at any given time.

Difficulty Level

The Block Blanket is rated as a beginner-level pattern. The straightforward block-based construction and use of basic knitting fundamentals make this an excellent project for knitters new to blanket-making or those seeking a relaxing, low-stress knitting experience.

Pattern Format

This pattern is available as a downloadable PDF from Knitting with Chopsticks, allowing you to access the complete instructions digitally and print them as needed for reference while working on your blocks.
