Détails du produit

Of the 17,500 butterfly species in the world, about 750 occur in the U.S. The popular monarch butterfly is famous for its yearly migration, commuting between its summery shelter in Mexico in the fall and its regular residence in the U.S. come spring. Its orange color impressed early settlers from Holland and they named it “monarch” after King William III, Prince of Orange.

The three life size (between 5½ and 10 cm) butterflies included are the malachite, monarch, California dogface and there’s the blue columbine flower. All are small, easy to medium, fast projects with flat, round and i-cord knitting, intarsia work and loop stitches, done on 1 and 1.25 mm dpn in lace-gauged yarn. All can be done in heavier yarn and will turn out slightly larger.

A butterfly is a great project to use up any scraps you have lying around. The butterflies can be attached to just about anything. Or, start your own butterfly collection! From Holland - the birth nation of these butterflies: VEEL LOL MET WOL!
