    About

Trophy hunting and poaching symbolises what's gone wrong with our relationship to nature. As it has been written before, it epitomises the idea of "mine versus ours," of the mindset that "values ownership more than access, that seeks possessions more than experiences." It is the result of pure greed, untempered by any need for survival or reciprocal respect for nature.

But collective consciousness about this unbalanced, take-all relationship is changing, be it through social media (witness the global outrage over the trophy killing of Cecil the lion), or through art, which is transforming this aspect of modern culture into something a little more wise. Dutch artist Gonny van Hulst aka GonnyGlass uses yarn and crochet needles to create cruelty-free and whimsical "faux taxidermy art."

Hi Doreen, There is no link, the pattern is a written one which can be found in Vanessa's book:
Animal Heads: Trophy Heads to Crochet by Vanessa Mooncie.
You can purchase it at Amazon.
If you have difficulty understanding the patterns, there is a helpful YouTube video by Boy & Bunting called:

@Gonny Glass: Hi Gonny! I love your stag head, especially since I already owned the same pattern book. I finally made my first head - a rainbow zebra - and have included the pattern help link in my project. Thanks so much for including that youtube link!!

I've made this stag but in natural colors. Yours is so much fun! You did a great job with the antlers. Mine keep falling!

Hi Charlotte...I know it's been 2 yrs, sorry!!! But if you still need it: I've used pvc-coated garden wire (thicker ones but still bendy). I've let the wire run as far into the head as possible for strength, so the antlers stay in place. Hope this helps:)
