Product Description
Lace knitting tee and sweater for the little ones.
Inspiration
I can’t resist seeing and touching a knitted texture with openwork. My eyes, hands, and imagination go to create these garments. It becomes your second skin, a garment that becomes a closet essential. In this garment I wanted to play with the openwork, the waves and the ruffles on the sleeve.

Zoe Sweater & Top by ileradebu
What is Being Made
The Zoe sweater and top is a versatile knitted garment designed by Estíbaliz Juango that functions as both a lightweight sweater and a standalone top. This piece is conceived as a closet essential that serves as a second skin, offering a refined and textured aesthetic suitable for layering or wearing alone. The design emphasizes visual and tactile interest through carefully integrated openwork elements.
Design Features & Inspiration
The Zoe pattern showcases deliberate design choices centered on decorative knitted textures. The garment incorporates openwork sections as a primary design element, creating an airy, lacy quality throughout the piece. Additional design details include wave motifs and ruffled sleeves, which add movement and dimension to the finished garment. The designer's inspiration draws from the tactile and visual appeal of openwork knitting, combining these elements to create a garment with both aesthetic appeal and wearability.
Knitting Techniques Used
- Openwork knitting to create lacy, textured sections
- Wave stitch patterns for dimensional surface detail
- Ruffle construction on sleeve edges
- Seamless or fitted construction methods typical of intermediate knitting
Stitches & Stitch Work
While specific stitch names are not detailed in the pattern excerpt provided, the Zoe employs intermediate-level knitting stitches including openwork techniques that create decorative holes and lace-like patterns. Wave stitches form a key textural component, and the ruffled sleeve details require increases and shaping techniques appropriate to the intermediate difficulty level.
Yarn & Materials
This pattern is designed for DK weight yarn, a lightweight yet structured yarn choice that works beautifully with openwork and textured stitches. DK weight provides enough definition to showcase the wave patterns and openwork details while maintaining the drape needed for a garment intended as a second skin. Knitting needles appropriate to DK weight yarn are required to achieve proper gauge and fabric density.
Difficulty Level
The Zoe sweater and top is rated as an intermediate difficulty pattern, making it suitable for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to tackle textured stitch patterns, openwork sections, and sleeve shaping. The combination of openwork, waves, and ruffles requires comfort with reading charts and managing yarn overs and decreases.
