Product Description
A lacy chevron patterned jacket to fit newborns to 4 year olds. The pattern is easy to learn, but the sizes are written separately, and in full, to make it more user-friendly for "not-so-experienced" knitters. A colour chart is also given which can be used as a short cut pattern for experts!
Written for rainbow colours as in the modeled pics (age 4 size), but easily adaptable for other colour combinations, by using the accompanying chart. Sample pics show some other options.
Rainbow colours used Heirloom 4 ply wool, pink/purple sample is Panda Silk Print, and mint green sample used Patons 4 ply Dreamtime with narrow stripes of Noir sock yarn.

Quick and easy
Hardest part of this pattern is sourcing the right colours of 4ply yarn, bright rainbow colours are readily available in DK [value brands] but few and far between in 4ply. Looking forward to creating my 'wishy washy' rainbow jacket though.
Disappointing
4ply or DK ....Confusing! pleased with pattern but I'm using DK on 3.25 needles to give perfect tension
Rainbow jacket
I used schachenmayr catania cotton in sports weight knitted up on old fashioned size 12 needles(approx 2.75mm). The pattern suggested 3.5mm needles to give 27 stitches, 34 rows but my tension on the smaller needles came out at 20 stitches, 29 rows. I just added two extra rows for each colour stripe an two more colour panels to get the required length.
best to go to a wool shop
As I have said the patterns are unnecessarily complicated, long winded and expensive
