They are worked in stocking\/stockinette stitch with a garter stitch pattern for the cuffs, allowing the cuffs to be turned back or left longer. Once knitted, a sheep motif is Swiss darned\/duplicate stitched to the back of the hand; however the motif could be added whilst knitting by using the intarsia method.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe mittens pictured are worked using a lovely soft wool silk mix yarn in DK\/light worsted weight. The sheep motifs were added using a worsted weight yarn so that the mitten stitches were more easily covered during Swiss darning\/duplicate stitching.
