Wintery Octagon Mandala

Wintery Octagon Mandala was designed with a blanket in mind but can be used in a variety of different ways: as a doily/trivet, potholder, pillow… and even a bag. Combination of linen stitch background (with “embroidery effect”) and cables creates a very soft and draping crochet fabric.

Level: Intermediate (front post stitches), but advanced, or “adventurous”, beginners can also try it out. It’s always nice to learn something new.

This easy to follow pattern (14 pages) is written for one size. It contains step by step full written instructions in English using standard crochet abbreviations and US terms (stitch guide is given in the pattern). It also contains lots of pictures explaining all the tricky and difficult places.

Materials:

• Yarn in one or more colors. I used Colour Crafter by Scheepejs (DK)
• Crochet hook 4mm (G) or the size that will give an acceptable gauge.
• Scissors and Tapestry needle to weave the ends in.
