Westbourne [Kinu love] Knit Sweater by Isabell Kraemer
What is Being Made
Westbourne is a handknit sweater design created by independent designer Isabell Kraemer. The pattern offers two distinct colorway versions: a Night version and a Day version. This is a downloadable PDF knitting pattern suitable for crafters with intermediate knitting experience. The sweater is available in seven different sizes, making it accessible for various body measurements.
Yarn and Materials
The Westbourne pattern accommodates two different yarn options depending on which version you choose to knit:
- Night Version: Uses Kinu by ito, a lace-weight yarn with 425 meters per 50 grams. This version requires 2 to 4 skeins in the main color (approximately 700 to 1310 meters total) and 1 skein in a contrast color (approximately 100 to 240 meters), depending on size.
- Day Version: Uses Cascade 220 Fingering, a fingering-weight yarn with 250 meters per 50 grams. This version requires 3 to 6 skeins in the main color (approximately 740 to 1350 meters total) and 1 to 2 skeins in contrast color (approximately 230 to 425 meters), depending on size.
Both versions use a two-color knitting approach, combining a primary main color with a secondary contrast color for visual interest and design definition.
Knitting Techniques and Stitches
As an intermediate-level knitting pattern, Westbourne employs techniques and stitches appropriate for knitters with foundational skills and some experience with more complex stitch work. The lace-weight yarn in the Night version and the fingering-weight yarn in the Day version both support detailed stitch definition. The two-color construction suggests the use of stranded colorwork or similar color-change techniques to create the Night and Day design variations. The pattern structure accommodates multiple sizes through graduated stitch counts and row adjustments.
