Product Description
I actually made this sweater for my BTS Mattel doll. It slightly shorter in height, but I guess have same body size as regular Ken doll (not the old version, because I heard they had bulky body). This sweater will also fit barbie and any 1:6 doll with slim or normal body.
I made this in one size only. If you want a bigger size, try experimenting with bigger yarn and needles.
The samples knitted in 8 grams of fingering no brand local acrylic yarn in variegated color, but feel free using any fingering yarn that suited for 2.25 - 2.75 mm knitting needle.
You may not distribute or sell electronic or paper copies of this pattern, please respect the copyright. But you may sell the finished product, and I will be very happy if you mention the pattern source and my name. :-)
Thank you, hope you enjoy this pattern :)
V Neck Sweater for Ken Doll by Ajeng Sitoresmi
Project Overview
This downloadable knitting pattern creates a fitted V-neck sweater designed specifically for Ken dolls. The project is classified as intermediate level, making it suitable for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to tackle more complex shaping and construction techniques. The finished garment features a classic V-neckline with snap button closure, combining traditional tailoring with miniature doll clothing construction.
What Is Being Made
The pattern produces a complete V-neck pullover sweater scaled to fit Ken dolls. The sweater incorporates a structured V-neckline, fitted body shaping, and functional snap button closures for easy dressing and undressing of the doll. This is a practical garment project that demonstrates professional finishing techniques in miniature form.
Knitting Techniques
- Seamless construction using double-pointed needles for in-the-round knitting
- Decreases and shaping to create the fitted silhouette and V-neckline
- Stitch marker usage to track pattern repeats and construction points
- Snap button integration for functional closures
- Finishing techniques including seaming and edge finishing with crochet hook
Stitches and Construction
While specific stitch names are not detailed in the pattern excerpt, the intermediate difficulty level indicates the use of standard knitting stitches combined with shaping techniques. The V-neckline requires careful decreasing to achieve the proper angle and fit. The pattern utilizes both knit and purl stitches typical of garment construction, with stitch markers employed to maintain pattern integrity throughout the project.
Materials Required
- Yarn: 1 ball of fingering weight yarn in a single color (approximately 8 grams minimum; designer sample used 490 meters per 100 grams)
- Needles: 2.5mm and 2.25mm (US1) double-pointed needles for seamless construction
- Notions: 2 snap buttons for closure, stitch marker, tapestry needle for finishing
- Tools: Crochet hook for edge finishing and seaming
The pattern is economical with yarn requirements, making it ideal for using leftover fingering weight yarn from previous projects. The designer's sample demonstrates successful results with acrylic yarn, though any fingering weight yarn suitable with 2.5mm needles will work appropriately for this project.
