Product Description

Curious about oddly-constructed mittens and their viability, I sat down with yarn and needles and managed to make these bias-knit mittens work. If you’re familiar with the world of Harry Potter, you’ll know that to enter Diagon Alley, you go behind the Leaky Cauldron and tap the brick that is three up and two across from the garbage can. These mittens are knitted diagonally. Get it? I crack myself up.

Finished Measurements: Palm Circumference, unstretched: 7 (7.75)” Total Length: 9.5 (10)”

Construction: These mittens begin at the center front. Once the number of stitches is achieved for the bias front, then stitches are cast on for the palm and the mitten is worked in the round with a thumb gusset. At the top of the mitten, a few short rows are worked on the palm side to make the pointed tops match. Then the top of the mitten is closed with an inside-out three-needle bind-off. The bottom ribbing is worked from stitches picked up around the bottom edge of the mitten.
