The Margaret V-Neck Scarf by LallieBooLoops
What Is Being Made
The Margaret V-Neck Scarf is a crocheted accessory designed with a distinctive V-neck construction. This intermediate-level pattern creates a finished scarf measuring 10cm (4 inches) in width and 84cm (33 inches) in length per side at the bottom, making it a versatile layering piece suitable for various seasons and occasions.
Crochet Techniques Used
This pattern employs several fundamental and intermediate crochet techniques to achieve its structured design. The scarf utilizes chain stitches to establish the foundation and create stitch spaces throughout the work. Single crochet stitches provide a dense, stable base for sections of the garment. Double crochet stitches are used to build height and create the main fabric structure, while double crochet 3 together (dc3tog) decreases are incorporated to shape the V-neck design and create fitted shaping.
A signature technique featured in this pattern is the treble "X" shape stitch (TrX), which is worked over 3 stitches using a specialized yarn-over and hook insertion method. This decorative stitch creates visual interest and texture. Triple crochet stitches add additional height and drape to specific sections. The pattern also incorporates yarn-over techniques and strategic stitch marker placement to maintain pattern accuracy throughout the project.

Materials and Specifications
Yarn: The pattern calls for 4 Seasons Flinders Cotton or another DK weight yarn. Two balls are required, with each ball containing approximately 115m/125 yards, for a total yardage of 230m/252 yards. DK weight yarn provides a lightweight, breathable fabric ideal for a scarf suitable across multiple seasons.
Tools and Notions: A 3.75mm/US 5 crochet hook is used to work the yarn to the specified gauge. Additional materials include stitch markers for tracking pattern repeats and shaping points, a medium eye blunt needle for weaving in yarn ends, and scissors for finishing.
Gauge: The pattern establishes a gauge of 9 rows by 6 cross stitches over 10cm/4 inches after blocking. Achieving proper gauge is essential for obtaining the correct finished dimensions and drape of the V-neck scarf.
Pattern Notes
This is an intermediate-level crochet project, indicating that crafters should have foundational crochet knowledge and experience with basic stitches before beginning. The pattern is designed for personal, non-commercial use only and remains the intellectual property of designer LallieBooLoops. Blocking is recommended after completion to achieve the specified gauge and finished measurements.
