SWC Baphomet Knitting Pattern

What is Being Made

The SWC Baphomet is a knitted toy designed by Sarah Louise Read of Stitch Witch Creations. This is a three-dimensional stuffed figure that stands approximately 31cm tall when standing, or 23cm when in a seated position. The finished toy features the iconic horned figure of Baphomet, created entirely through knitting techniques and hand assembly.

Craft and Techniques

This project uses knitting as the primary construction method. The pattern is classified as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to tackle more complex shaping and assembly work. The construction involves knitting multiple separate pieces before assembling them together to form the complete three-dimensional toy.

Key techniques employed in this pattern include:

• Increases using the kfb (knit in front and back loop) method to add stitches for shaping
• Decreases using K2tog (knit two stitches together) and P2tog (purl two stitches together) to shape and taper sections
• Stocking stitch as the primary fabric structure
• Seaming pieces together using a tapestry needle and yarn tails left during casting on
• Stuffing the completed pieces to create a three-dimensional form
• Hand-stitching details such as eyes and nose using black yarn

Stitches Used

The pattern utilizes fundamental knitting stitches including:

Materials and Yarn

This pattern calls for Scheepjes Stone Washed XL yarn, a chunky-weight yarn in two colorways:

• 35g in Deep Amethyst (Orange) – the primary color for the main body
• 25g in Black Onyx (Black) – used for contrasting details

Additional materials required include 4mm straight knitting needles, a tapestry needle for seaming and finishing, polyester stuffing to fill the completed pieces, two 15mm safety eyes for secure eye placement, and a small amount of black yarn for embroidering facial features including the eyes and nose.
