What is Being Made

Splitstone is a fitted knitted waistcoat designed by Alicia Plummer, available in eight sizes ranging from XS to 4X to accommodate bust measurements from 28-30 inches up to 56-58 inches. This intermediate-level knitting project creates a sleeveless garment with a minimal ease of 2 inches throughout, resulting in a fitted yet comfortable silhouette suitable for layering or wearing as a standalone piece.

Knitting Techniques Used

This waistcoat employs several foundational and intermediate knitting techniques to achieve its finished structure. The garment is worked in the round using circular needles, which allows for seamless construction and efficient stitch management. The pattern incorporates cable panel shaping with dedicated markers to track pattern repeats and maintain proper stitch alignment. Side shaping is integrated throughout the construction to create the fitted waistcoat silhouette. The pattern utilizes the German Twisted Cast-on method for a professional edge finish, and finishing is completed using both EZ's sewn bind-off and the Kitchener Stitch for seamless seaming where necessary.
