Space Mobile

Take a trip around the galaxy, meeting plenty of friends along the way, when you cast on this out-of-this-world Space Mobile! Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the mobile is knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). The mobile features the sun, planets, space rockets, UFOs, and astronaut and alien, which are suspended from a wooden embroidery hoop covered with yarn. The pattern incorporates intarsia colour-work to make the astronaut’s helmet, and Swiss darning (aka duplicate stitch) embroidery to make the planet Earth following a chart provided in the pattern. For intermediate knitters and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
