Product Description
Vielen Dank an meine tollen Testerinnen. Ohne sie würde es keine verständlichen Anleitungen geben.

Winter is soon approaching. Whether hard frost or winter wonderland – either way you like it, this is the right time to have a warming shawl at the ready. Preferably a comfy large-sized one to snuggle up in so that frosty winds won’t harm us.
Instructions are fully written out row by row – you don’t need to be able to read charts in order to knit this shawl
As with all of my patterns, “Solaro”, too has been tech edited, test knitted and professionally translated.
Solaro Shawl by Kathrin Pohnke
What is Being Made
Solaro is a large, comfortable knitted shawl designed by Kathrin Pohnke of oceanandyarn. This seaside-inspired wrap is sized generously at 240 cm x 110 cm (94.5 inches x 43.3 inches) when measured flat after washing, making it an ideal winter accessory for wrapping up warmly against frosty winds. The shawl is available in three beautiful colorways: Curry (yellow), Rosa (pink), and Azur (turquoise), allowing knitters to choose the hue that best suits their personal style and seasonal preferences.
Craft and Techniques
Solaro is a knitting project classified as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for knitters with some experience beyond the beginner level. The design employs circular needles to construct this substantial wrap, which is a common technique for creating large, seamless shawls. The pattern is provided as a downloadable PDF, allowing crafters to begin their project immediately upon purchase.
Stitches and Construction
While specific stitch patterns are not detailed in the available pattern information, the shawl's generous dimensions and intermediate skill level suggest the use of established knitting techniques that create both structure and drape. The flat measurement of the finished piece indicates the shawl is worked in a way that lies evenly when laid out, a characteristic typical of well-designed wrap shawls.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
The Solaro shawl is crafted using Bio Balance yarn by BC Garn, a blend of 55% wool and 45% cotton. This fiber combination provides warmth from the wool content while the cotton adds breathability and structure, making it an excellent choice for a winter wrap that won't feel overly heavy.
- Yarn weight and yardage: 225 meters per 50 grams (246 yards per 1.76 ounces)
- Total yarn required: 500 grams (17.6 ounces) for the completed shawl
- Available colorways: Curry, Rosa, and Azur
Needles and Notions
The pattern calls for 5.5 mm (US 9) circular needles measuring 100 cm (39.37 inches) in length. The circular needle format allows for comfortable handling of the large number of stitches required for this oversized shawl. A tapestry needle is also needed for finishing and weaving in ends upon completion.
