Construction Technique

The Sirell sweater employs a top-down seamless construction method, a popular approach in contemporary knitwear design. The pattern begins with short-row shaping at the neck to create proper shoulder slope and fit. Once the neck shaping is complete, the sleeve stitches are temporarily placed on hold while the body of the sweater is worked in the round to the desired length. After the body is finished, the held sleeve stitches are returned to the needles and each sleeve is worked in the round independently, ensuring consistent fabric and eliminating the need for seaming at the underarms.

Stitches and Techniques

This pattern incorporates short-row shaping as a key technique for achieving proper garment fit at the neckline and shoulders. The use of circular needles and working in the round throughout the construction creates seamless fabric. Yardage requirements range from approximately 825 yards for the smallest size to 1,350 yards for the largest size, depending on the chosen size.
