Shell Stitch Granny Square

This square combines the traditional shell stitch with straight edges and a squared off shape to make it easy to join and create projects with a grid/modular construction like blankets, pillow covers, bags, accessories and more. Make several of this square and join them, or include it as part of a sampler style blanket. The pattern is for the square only.

This pattern works well for any medium weight yarn that has good stitch definition, so feel free to substitute the suggested yarn with your preferred yarn or yarn from stash.
