Sahara Skies Shawl

This simple but striking shawl can be made by a relative beginner knitter. It is made from worsted weight cotton yarn, with a little nylon for strength, which makes it light and soft and a delight to wear - either over your shoulders or around your neck like a scarf.

It’s knit flat from the top down, starting with a garter tab, and is divided into sections of stocking/stockinette stitch, punctuated by garter ridges and a basic lace pattern. The picot bind-off (one of my favourites for shawls because it is both pretty and stretchy) gives that extra bit of visual interest.
