What Is Being Made

Design Details and Layout

• Border 1 (side borders): Cut to 39½" in length, sewn to the sides of the panel center first.
• Top and bottom borders: Cut to 32½" in length, each finished with a Star Block sewn to each end before being attached to the quilt center.

This layout creates a structured, symmetrical frame around the central panel, with the Star Blocks adding a playful, dimensional quality to the corners of the horizontal borders.

Star Blocks – Construction and Appliqué

The pattern calls for four Star Blocks, each constructed using a combination of piecing and appliqué. Each Star Block begins with a Four-Patch Unit, made by sewing together four assorted print 3½" x 3½" squares. These squares are cut from the remaining 5-inch squares in the Home for the Holidays 5-inch Stacker (5-3970-21).

Once the Four-Patch Unit is assembled, two appliquéd elements are added to complete each block:

• A snow white shade circle, cut from C200-03 Snow White fabric using a provided template.
• An assorted print star, cut from specific 5-inch squares using the included star template.

The stars are cut from the following designated 5-inch squares within the stacker:

• Red main
• Green deer
• White peppermint
• Red candy

Quilters are instructed to add a ¼" seam allowance to the star template pieces if required by their chosen appliqué method. The pattern leaves the appliqué technique open to the quilter's preference, making it adaptable to raw-edge, fusible, needle-turn, or any other favorite approach.
