Product Description
his fun, quick pattern came to life as I was set on finishing a blanket for my dear friend of 35 years. She recently had her 3rd beautiful girl. I had knit some adorable outfits already, but never finished the baby blanket I started in January. Well, it was the day before we were getting together and I needed something I could make quickly but I also wanted it to be special and unique for Baby Reese.
Using super bulky yarn, I found the texture I was looking for and on large needles, Reese’s blanket came to life fast.
When you knit your blanket, you may find you want to substitute other Super Bulky yarns and in doing so, may or may not need to hold your yarn double depending on the texture you are looking to achieve. Make a swatch or two to see what makes you happiest.
This pattern also incorporates a decorative and simple stitch - an elongated Daisy Stitch. I’ve included photo and video tutorial in the pattern.
Reese Knit Blanket by Crystal
What is Being Made
Reese is a quick-to-knit blanket pattern designed for gifting occasions and special celebrations. This cozy throw was created to commemorate the arrival of a newborn and can be completed in a short timeframe, making it ideal for knitters who need an impressive handmade gift without an extended project timeline.
Craft and Primary Technique
This is a knitting pattern that utilizes the speed and visual impact of super bulky yarn combined with large needles. The design emphasizes texture and quick results, allowing crafters to create a substantial blanket in minimal time. The pattern encourages swatching and experimentation to achieve personalized texture preferences, making it accessible for knitters who wish to customize their finished piece.
Stitches and Construction
The pattern employs fundamental knitting abbreviations including CO (cast on) and BO (bind off), indicating a straightforward construction method suitable for intermediate-level knitters. The designer notes that yarn holding techniques may vary depending on material choice—some super bulky yarns may be held double to achieve desired texture, while others may be worked single-stranded. Swatching is recommended to determine the best approach for your chosen yarn.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
Reese is designed for Super Bulky weight yarn and requires approximately 300–400 yards total yardage. The sample shown was knit using Cascade Magnum, a super bulky yarn that provides 123 yards per 112.5 meters. Knitters are encouraged to substitute other super bulky options while adjusting their technique as needed to match the texture and drape of their chosen yarn. Large needles are required to complement the yarn weight and create the intended fabric structure.
Difficulty Level
This pattern is rated intermediate, making it suitable for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to work with larger needles and bulkier materials. The straightforward stitch work combined with the quick completion time makes it an excellent project for intermediate crafters seeking faster gratification without sacrificing quality or visual interest.
