Project Overview

The Rainbow Cowl is a beginner-friendly knitting project designed by independent designer Anna Alway. This cheerful, oversized cowl combines comfort with style, offering versatility in wear. Yarn and Materials

This project showcases a beautiful colour-work combination using two distinct yarns that create visual interest and texture depth. The main colour (MC) is worked in NORO Taiyo, a luxurious blend yarn composed of 40% cotton, 30% silk, 15% wool, and 15% nylon. The NORO Taiyo yarn is available in 200-meter (219-yard) skeins per 100-gram (3.5-ounce) ball. For this project, Colour #17 is used, requiring 1 ball, though purchasing or reserving a second ball is recommended as the cowl uses nearly the entire first ball. The contrast colour (CC) is DROPS Alpaca bouclé in Colour #0506 'Dark grey', a softer yarn blend containing 80% alpaca, 15% wool, and 5% nylon, offered in 140-meter (153-yard) skeins per 50-gram (1.75-ounce) ball. Two balls of the DROPS Alpaca bouclé are required. Actual yarn consumption totals approximately 99 grams (3.4 ounces) of the main colour and 90 grams (3.2 ounces) of the contrast colour.
