Product Description
Look!! Don't you like this little monkey? I tell you, I loved it, and not only me! The kids loved it! and adults too! Serves as a key ring, as a decoration for the bag, in curtains or cribs! You can do it with the colors you like the most and the kids will love it! You can also put wire on the legs and tail to make it nimble. I did not put any cables on it, but you can achieve many expressions by sewing the monkey's hands in different places!
I usually use LHO acrylic wool for hook # 2.5, but you can use wool or cotton thread that you like the most. The finished dimensions are approx. 10 cm. The size can vary depending on the size of the needle and the wool.

Little Monkey Amigurumi Crochet Pattern
What is Being Made
This is a downloadable crochet pattern for creating a Little Monkey amigurumi, a small stuffed toy designed by Ternura Amigurumi. The finished monkey stands approximately 10 centimeters tall, making it an ideal size for a decorative toy, gift item, or collectible handmade piece. Amigurumi is the Japanese craft of crocheting small, stuffed three-dimensional figures, and this pattern follows that tradition to create a charming monkey character.
Crochet Techniques and Construction
The Little Monkey pattern employs fundamental amigurumi construction techniques suitable for crafters with intermediate crochet experience. The pattern uses the magic ring method to begin the head piece, a technique that creates a tight center circle ideal for seamless amigurumi construction. The monkey is built using spiral crochet, a continuous technique that avoids visible seams and creates smooth, professional-looking pieces.
The pattern includes optional wire insertion in the legs and tail, allowing crafters to make these limbs poseable and maneuverable if desired. This feature adds versatility to the finished toy, enabling different display positions. The pattern also encourages creative expression through hand placement variation—by sewing the monkey's hands in different positions, crafters can achieve multiple distinct facial expressions and poses from a single pattern.
Stitches Used
The Little Monkey pattern utilizes essential crochet stitches that form the foundation of amigurumi work:
- Chain stitch (ch) – used for foundation and structural elements
- Single crochet (sc) – the primary stitch used throughout the pattern for building the body, head, and limbs
- Increase (inc) – used to expand stitch counts and create the rounded, dimensional shapes characteristic of amigurumi
- Decrease (dec) – employed to reduce stitch counts and shape the monkey's features
Materials and Tools
The Little Monkey pattern requires specific materials to achieve the intended finished result. Yarn weight options include aran, worsted, dk, sport, lace, and thread weights, providing flexibility for crafters with different yarn stashes. The pattern calls for 100% acrylic wool in multiple colors: dark brown, light brown, yellow, green, white, and black, allowing crafters to create a realistic and expressive monkey character.
The recommended crochet hook size is 2.5mm, paired with yarn that has a 2mm thickness. This combination creates tight, dense stitches essential for amigurumi work, ensuring the stuffing does not show through the finished fabric. Additional materials include a wool needle for weaving in ends and sewing pieces together, and synthetic filling for stuffing the completed monkey to create its three-dimensional form.
