Product Description
The Pride Yoke (crochet version) is a crochet circular yoke sweater worked seamlessly from the top-down. It’s designed to have approx. 2-4” of positive ease, and is graded for 9 sizes ranging from XS-5XL. This project has one of the best drapes I’ve ever achieved in a crochet piece, mostly due to using a 100% bamboo yarn from Lion Brand called Truboo. I designed this sweater with summer in mind, so that it’s lightweight, nice and flowy, and super breathable.
I also have a knit version of this pattern called The Pride Yoke that can be found on all pattern-selling platforms under the same name.

Pride Yoke Crochet Sweater by Janine Myska
What is Being Made
The Pride Yoke is a crochet sweater pattern designed by Janine Myska and published by Knits 'N Knots in 2020. This garment is available in both long sleeve and short sleeve versions, offering versatility for different seasons and preferences. The pattern is written in nine sizes ranging from XS to 5X, making it accessible to a wide range of body types and fit preferences.
Yarn and Materials
This sweater is designed to be worked with DK weight yarn (category 3, light weight). The original pattern calls for Lion Brand Truboo, which is made from 100% bamboo rayon, a sustainable and breathable fiber choice ideal for sweater construction. Yardage requirements vary by size and sleeve length: the long sleeve version requires between 1450 yards (XS) and 2950 yards (5X), depending on the selected size.
Crochet Techniques and Stitches
The Pride Yoke sweater is constructed using single crochet as the primary stitch throughout the garment. This fundamental crochet stitch creates a dense, structured fabric that provides excellent drape and stability for a wearable sweater. The yoke construction method is a popular technique in crochet garment design, where the upper body and armhole shaping are worked as a unified piece before dividing for the body and sleeves.
Gauge and Construction Details
The pattern specifies a gauge of 20 stitches by 23 rounds over 4 inches when worked in single crochet with the main (larger) hook using DK weight yarn. Achieving the correct gauge is essential for proper fit and sizing. The pattern is structured to allow crocheters to work only the numbers corresponding to their chosen size, simplifying the construction process and reducing the likelihood of sizing errors.
Skill Level
This pattern is rated as beginner-friendly, making it an excellent choice for crocheters who are new to garment construction or those seeking a straightforward project. The use of a single stitch throughout and clear size-specific instructions makes this sweater accessible while still producing a polished, finished garment.
