Product Description
'Oh Danny Boy Baby Blanket'
This gorgeous blanket has been designed to be extremely versatile. By adding more squares, it can be made large enough to fit a child's bed or even an adult's bed. Or make less squares and turn it into a lap blanket for the elderly. The bobble design is quick and easy to knit up and very tactile.
I've used crochet to sew the squares together and have included instructions on how to do basic crochet, but if crochet really isn't 'your thing' you could just sew the squares together using blanket stitch and it would look just as beautiful.
This pattern has full colour photos and easy to follow instructions throughout.

The Oh Danny Boy Baby Blanket is a versatile knitted project designed by Mandi Wilson that combines modular construction with tactile bobble detailing. This downloadable PDF pattern offers exceptional flexibility in finished size, allowing crafters to customize the blanket from a small baby blanket to a child's bed throw, lap blanket, or even an adult-sized bedcover by simply adjusting the number of squares created.
What Is Being Made
This pattern produces a square-based modular blanket constructed from individual knitted squares that are joined together. The blanket features a distinctive bobble stitch design throughout, creating a textured, tactile surface that adds visual interest and dimensional appeal to the finished piece.
Knitting Techniques Used
- Modular knitting with individual square construction
- Bobble stitch for textured surface detail
- Square joining methods using either crochet or traditional blanket stitch
- Crochet assembly option for connecting completed squares
- Blanket stitch seaming as an alternative joining technique for those preferring needle-based finishing
Stitches and Construction Details
The pattern incorporates bobble stitches as the primary decorative element, which are described as quick and easy to execute while providing excellent tactile quality. The bobble design creates raised, dimensional texture across the blanket surface. Squares are joined using either basic crochet techniques or blanket stitch worked with a needle, offering flexibility for crafters with different skill preferences.
