Product Description
It‘s such fun to play with the colors on this idea of a Twin-set to wear with the Notice Sweater!
The cardigan is worked seamlessly in one piece from the top-down.
After the collar is worked, the yoke is shaped by increases for body and sleeves and additional radial increases down to the
sleeve separation. The sleeve stitches are then placed on hold, underarm stitches are cast on, and you continue to work the
body with color blocking to the bottom ribbing. Pick up the front stitches to work the buttonband for each front.
After the body is completed, sleeve stitches are placed back on the needles to work in the round.
NOTICE Spring Cardigan by ANKESTRiCK
What is Being Made
The NOTICE Spring Cardigan is a knitted cardigan sweater designed by ANKESTRiCK, available in six sizes ranging from XS to XXL. The finished bust circumference spans from 91 cm (35.75 inches) in the smallest size to 130 cm (51 inches) in the largest size. This garment is designed with approximately 10–14 cm (4–5.5 inches) of positive ease at the bust for a comfortable, relaxed fit suitable for spring layering.
Craft and Primary Technique
The NOTICE Spring Cardigan is created using the knitting craft. This is an intermediate-level knitting project, making it suitable for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to tackle more complex construction techniques. The pattern employs a combination of knitting methods to create a polished, wearable garment.
Stitches and Construction Details
The cardigan is worked primarily in stockinette stitch (abbreviated as Stst), which creates the smooth, classic fabric characteristic of this design. The pattern incorporates colorwork elements using both a main color and a contrast color, adding visual interest to the finished piece. Construction requires the use of 6 stitch markers to track pattern repeats and shaping throughout the knitting process. Waste yarn or a stitch holder is needed to set aside stitches during construction, a common technique in cardigan patterns for managing button bands and neckline finishing.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
The NOTICE Spring Cardigan is designed to be worked in Wool of Fame Alpaca Mix Fine (AMF), a luxury blend yarn composed of 70% baby alpaca, 20% silk, and 10% cashmere. This fiber combination creates a soft, breathable fabric ideal for spring wear.
Yarn Requirements by Size:
- Main Color (MC) in Rosenholz (pink): 3 skeins or 810–1100 meters (880–1200 yards) depending on size
- Contrast Color (CC1) in Yvi (grey): 1 skein or 180–330 meters (200–360 yards) depending on size
The yarn is supplied at 400 meters (438 yards) per 100 grams, allowing knitters to calculate yardage needs for substituting comparable yarns of similar weight and fiber content.
Gauge and Needle Requirements
The pattern is worked at a gauge of 24 stitches by 34 rows/rounds over 10 x 10 centimeters (4 x 4 inches) in stockinette stitch on the main needle size. Achieving the correct gauge is essential for obtaining the intended finished measurements and fit. The pattern specifies main needles for the body work, with additional needle sizes likely required for ribbing and edgings, though the complete needle specifications are referenced in the full pattern details.
Finishing Elements
The NOTICE Spring Cardigan features 7 buttons for the front closure, adding both functional and decorative elements to the finished garment. Button placement and spacing are determined by the pattern's schematic and instructions.
This intermediate knitting project combines luxury fibers, thoughtful colorwork, and classic cardigan construction to create a versatile spring layering piece suitable for various skill levels within the intermediate range.
