Product Description

Sometimes wristies can ride down the arm (even with a thumb hole) so these gloves have a stitch between the fingers so they have "finger holes" with out the fingers and keep the gloves covering the hands.

This pattern uses SC/DC, HDC/HTR, foundation stitches, and bobble stitches (tutorials available on my blog)

Nate Fingered-less Gloves by Itchy Crochet Designs

Project Overview

The Nate Fingered-less Gloves are an intermediate-level crochet project designed to create practical, wearable hand accessories. These gloves feature an open-finger construction, making them ideal for activities requiring dexterity while keeping the back of the hand and wrist warm. The pattern is available as a downloadable PDF and offers three size options to accommodate different wrist measurements.

Garment Details and Sizing

This pattern includes three distinct sizes to ensure a proper fit for various hand sizes:

  • Small: Designed for a 5-inch wrist
  • Medium: Designed for a 6-inch wrist
  • Large: Designed for an 8-inch wrist

Materials Required

To complete the Nate Fingered-less Gloves, you will need the following materials:

  • Yarn: Sirdar Simply Recycled DK weight yarn in the specified color
  • Yardage: 130 to 157 yards total, depending on the size selected
  • Hook: 4 MM crochet hook

Crochet Techniques and Stitches

The Nate Fingered-less Gloves employ several fundamental crochet techniques suitable for an intermediate crocheter. The pattern utilizes a combination of basic and decorative stitches to create texture and structure.

Gauge Information: The pattern specifies a gauge of 5 double crochet stitches and 5 rows measured over 1 inch when worked with the recommended yarn and hook size. Achieving the correct gauge is essential for ensuring the gloves fit properly at the wrist and throughout the hand.

Foundation Double Crochet (FDC): The gloves begin with a foundation row worked in the Foundation Double Crochet stitch. This specialized technique creates both a foundation chain and the first row of double crochet stitches simultaneously. To execute FDC, chain 2, insert the hook into the second stitch from the hook, yarn over and pull through, yarn over and pull through the first loop on the hook to create a chain, then yarn over and pull through both remaining loops on the hook. For subsequent stitches, insert the hook into the chain created in the previous stitch, yarn over and pull through, yarn over and pull through the first loop, then yarn over and pull through both loops on the hook. This method eliminates the need for a separate foundation chain and creates a neater, more professional edge.

Double Crochet (DC): Double crochet stitches form the primary fabric of the gloves. This stitch is worked in rows following the foundation row, creating a dense, structured fabric suitable for a fitted garment.

Bobble Stitch (BOB): The pattern incorporates the Bobble Stitch as a decorative element. To work a bobble stitch, yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through, then yarn over and pull through the first two loops on the hook. Repeat this process four additional times in the same stitch, for a total of five partial stitches. Finally, yarn over and pull through all six loops remaining on the hook. This creates a textured, three-dimensional bobble that adds visual interest to the finished gloves.

Pattern Construction

The left glove begins with a foundation row using the Foundation Double Crochet stitch. The number of stitches varies by size: 25 stitches for Small, 35 stitches for Medium, and 40 stitches for Large. Following the foundation row, the pattern continues with rows 1 through 3, each worked as one chain stitch followed by double crochet stitches along the row, turning at the end of each row to prepare for the next.

Skill Level

This project is classified as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for crocheters with foundational knowledge of basic stitches and comfortable working with stitch patterns and gauge. The inclusion of specialty stitches such as Foundation Double Crochet and Bobble Stitch provides an opportunity to expand technical skills while creating a practical, wearable accessory.
