Möbius Variations

Möbius strips are both simple and surprising. They form a continuous loop with just one side (i.e. if you start at some point and run on long enough, you end up on the same point, but on the other side of the strip). You can make them from paper but their beauty shows best when made from yarn. I like to make Möbius potholders. They make the perfect gift for mathematicians who like to cook.

This pattern includes four versions, a classical Möbius strip, one that is twisted once more, and striped versions of both (in the photos, you see different versions of stripes; the pattern contains the two-colored version).
