What is Being Made

The Maj-Tee is a simple, versatile t-shirt designed to be worn as a standalone garment or layered over a long-sleeve top. It features a contemporary fit with 8–10 cm of positive ease at the bust, allowing for comfortable wear with intentional drape. The design is available in six sizes ranging from XS to XXL, with bust circumferences from 84 cm (33 inches) to 135 cm (53 inches).

Construction Technique

The Maj-Tee is knitted seamlessly using a top-down construction method, eliminating the need for finishing seams. The pattern begins at the shoulder line with a provisional cast-on. The front and back pieces are initially worked flat and separately in back-and-forth rows, then joined together and knitted in continuous rounds down to the bottom of the shirt. This approach creates a smooth, integrated garment with minimal finishing required.

Stitch Details and Design Features

The primary stitch used throughout the garment is stockinette stitch, which creates a smooth, classic fabric surface. The Maj-Tee incorporates lace-flower motifs positioned on the sides of the garment, serving as decorative eye-catchers that add visual interest to the design. The rolled edges are a natural feature of the stockinette stitch construction, contributing to the garment's refined aesthetic without requiring additional edging techniques.

Yarn and Gauge Specifications

This pattern is designed to be worked with smooth, drapey yarn that falls gracefully on the body. The designer recommends alpaca yarn, such as FairAlpaka, for optimal results. The gauge is 28 stitches by 37 rows over 10 by 10 cm (4 by 4 inches) in stockinette stitch when worked on 3 mm needles after blocking. The pattern accommodates three-ply and four-ply yarn weights, as well as lace-weight options, providing flexibility for yarn selection.
