Any 4ply weight yarn could be used instead - wool, cashmere, alpaca, cotton, etc.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe gloves were knitted on size 3mm (11) needles for the main part, with the rib and cast-off edges on size 2.5mm (13) needles.  They measure approximately 3.5\" across (not counting thumb) and 5\" long from top of cuff rib to cast-off edge.
