Product Description

Fingerless GLOVES, not mittens – don’t be fooled! Fingerless gloves are a much better fit. They lovingly wrap and cuddle each finger, so that there is no unfortunate gaping around the hand.

This pattern is available two ways – either as a pattern with instructional videos, or as a pattern only. This is the listing for the PATTERN + VIDEOS.

The page with the pattern only can be found here.

Here are some reviews from my knitting patterns and videos, copied from YouTube:

Learn to Knit Fingerless Gloves by Staci Perry

Project Overview

The Amirah Fingerless Gloves is an intermediate-level knitting pattern designed by Staci Perry for knitters looking to expand their skills with a practical, wearable accessory. This downloadable PDF pattern guides crafters through creating a pair of striped fingerless mittens using fundamental knitting techniques and colorwork methods.

What Is Being Made

This pattern produces fingerless gloves, also referred to as fingerless mittens in the design. The finished gloves feature a striped colorwork design created by changing yarn colors throughout the construction. The gloves are worked in the round using double-pointed needles, making them an excellent project for knitters who want to practice circular knitting techniques and color changes.

Knitting Techniques Used

  • Circular knitting using double-pointed needles
  • Casting on and distributing stitches across multiple needles
  • Working in the round with proper tension management
  • Color changes and striped colorwork
  • Reading and following knitting charts
  • Ribbed cuff construction

Stitches and Stitch Patterns

  • 2x2 Ribbing: Used for the cuff section, worked over 20 rounds to create an elastic, fitted opening
  • Stockinette stitch (implied in main body construction)
  • Chart-based stitch patterns for the striped colorwork design

Materials and Specifications

Yarn: 200 yards of worsted-weight wool in multiple colors for creating stripes. The pattern example uses Queensland Collection Rustic Tweed in three colorways: Gold, Rust, and Wedgewood Blue. Knitters are encouraged to select colors of their own choosing to personalize their fingerless gloves.

Needles: Size 7 US double-pointed needles are required for this project.

Additional Materials: Scrap yarn (for stitch holders or markers) and a tapestry needle (for weaving in ends and finishing).

Pattern Structure and Support

The pattern includes detailed written directions beginning with the cuff section, which is cast on with 40 stitches distributed across three double-pointed needles (16 stitches on one needle and 12 stitches on each of the other two). The pattern is supported by five instructional videos created by the designer to guide knitters through key techniques, including a publicly available introductory video on getting started with double-pointed needles and working the cuff. This multimedia approach makes the pattern accessible for intermediate knitters who benefit from visual instruction alongside written guidance.

Ideal For

This pattern is well-suited for intermediate knitters who have basic knitting skills and are ready to tackle circular needle work, color changes, and chart reading. The fingerless glove format makes it a practical project that produces a finished, wearable item relatively quickly compared to full gloves or larger garments.
