Leaf and Lace Scarf

This symmetrical, textured scarf is inspired by the wonders of nature, depicting a classic leaf motif and a simple lace edging. It looks equally great on men and women, and it's length lends itself to a variety of wearing options e.g. one twist leaving the ends long or doubled around the neck and pinned or tied for extra warmth. The pattern repeat is easy to master and uses simple directional decreases and yo increases. The pattern repeat is written in full and a chart is also provided.

To create the symmetrical appearance and the leaf motifs at the ends of the scarf, a provisional cast on is used at the centre back. The first side is then worked down to the leaf point and the cast on then released to allow for the second side to be completed to match the first.

The pattern uses two different shades of Rowan Felted Tweed DK held together while working to create a beautiful random mottled effect. It could also be worked in a single strand of a thicker yarn if preferred.
