Knitted Square Popcorn Stitch

This is the third square in the Knitted Patchwork Quilt Series. It is important to have the correct gauge so that each of your squares are pretty close to the same size. You can correct for slight variances in size when you block each piece after knitting.

This popcorn stitch pattern consists of mainly knits and purls, since most of the square is stockinette. This means that the right side is only Knit stitches with a few popcorn stitches placed carefully throughout. The wrong side is always only Purl stitches. Because of the simplicity of this square, it is another great choice for the beginner knitter. The placement of the special stitches creates an interesting texture that looks like little baby popcorn pieces all over the square. Adorable!
