Kingsbury Knit Sweater by yellowcosmo

What is Being Made

Kingsbury is a knitted sweater designed by Connie Peng of yellowcosmo designs. This intermediate-level pullover sweater features a yoke construction and is available in ten sizes ranging from 31 inches to 63 inches in chest circumference, accommodating fit preferences from petite to plus-size proportions. The sweater includes a fitted yoke, body shaping, and set-in sleeves with ribbed cuffs.

Construction Techniques

Kingsbury employs a yoke-based construction method, a popular technique in contemporary knitwear design that allows for seamless shaping across the shoulders and upper body. The yoke depth varies by size, ranging from 8 inches to 12 inches, providing proportional fit across the size range. The sweater features a standard body length of 15 inches across all sizes, with adjustable hem circumference that ranges from 26.75 inches to 55.25 inches to accommodate different silhouettes and ease preferences.

The sleeve construction includes upper arm shaping with circumferences ranging from 10.5 inches to 21.5 inches, and finished cuff measurements from 8.25 inches to 14 inches. This design allows for comfortable sleeve fit with appropriate negative ease at the wrist for a finished look.

Stitches and Stitch Work

While specific stitch patterns are not detailed in the available pattern information, the ribbed cuff construction is a standard finishing technique used in sweater design to create elasticity and a neat edge. The yoke shaping likely incorporates decreases to achieve the tapered transition from the wider body to the narrower neckline.

Yarn and Materials

Kingsbury is designed to be worked in DK or sport weight yarn, both lightweight options that create drape and definition in finished knitwear. These yarn weights are ideal for intermediate knitters and produce a garment with good stitch definition and comfortable wear. The pattern requires standard knitting needles appropriate to the chosen yarn weight to achieve proper gauge.

Sizing and Fit

The Kingsbury sweater offers comprehensive sizing with ten distinct size options. Neck measurements range from 15.75 inches to 27.25 inches, chest circumference from 30.5 inches to 63.25 inches, and hem width from 26.75 inches to 55.25 inches. This extensive size range ensures accessibility for diverse body types and fit preferences.
