Product Description
The 'Incantation Socks' were inspired by all things magical !
The yarn I used was custom dyed for me to reflect the rising steam from a cauldron, where a wonderfully mystical potion is being brewed. It makes me think of my favourite scene from the Harry Potter movies, where Snape enters the classroom and tells his students that there will be no wand waving or silly incantations in his class - hence the name !
The lace pattern is simple, fun and highly addictive. It feels like they knit up in a flash, and secretly I think that the potion we brewed gave a helping hand in this !
The pattern has 3 sizes in fingering weight, plus a bonus pattern which is knit in a DK weight - perfect snuggly house socks !

Stitches Used
The Incantation Socks pattern employs several essential knitting stitches and techniques:
- Knit (k) - the fundamental stitch forming the base structure
- Purl (p) - used to create texture and pattern variation
- Yarn over (yo) - creates the decorative lace openings that give the socks their mystical appearance
- Slip stitch (s) - used for shaping and stitch manipulation
- Slip, slip, knit (ssk) - a decrease technique that pairs with yarn overs to form the lace pattern
These stitches combine to create the simple yet wonderfully mystical lace pattern that is the signature feature of this design.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
The Incantation Socks are worked in fingering weight yarn, classified as 4-ply. One skein of approximately 400 metres (437 yards) is required for the main sock construction. An additional 40 metres (43 yards) of fingering weight yarn is needed for finishing details. The yarn was custom dyed specifically for this pattern to achieve the cauldron steam effect, giving each pair a unique, magical appearance.
