These homemade mince pies hold a Ferrero Rocher treat and make tempting little chocolate favours for Christmas and New Year.
You can knit plain mince pies with holly decorations or ones with a pastry star top covering the mincemeat filling.
Both varieties are knitted in minutes, using straight needles and tiny oddments of leftover DK yarn.

Mince Pie Chocolate Cover measures 5cm.
These are decorative knitted chocolate covers designed to hold Ferrero Rocher treats, creating festive edible favours perfect for Christmas and New Year celebrations. The pattern offers two design variations: mince pies with holly decorations and mince pies with a pastry star top. Each completed chocolate cover measures 5cm, making them small, quick-to-knit projects ideal for gift-giving or festive displays.
This is a knitting project designed at an intermediate difficulty level. The pattern is created using the stocking stitch technique, which produces a smooth, classic knitted fabric. The design incorporates decreasing stitches to shape the mince pie covers into their finished form. The pattern uses a combination of knit and purl stitches in the opening rows to create textural detail before transitioning into the main stocking stitch body.
This project is designed to use oddments of leftover DK yarn, making it an excellent stash-busting pattern. You will need DK weight yarn in the following colours: tan (for the pastry base), dark brown (for the mincemeat layer), green and red (for the holly decoration details on the decorative variety). The pattern requires two pairs of knitting needles: 4mm and 2.75mm, allowing you to work with different needle sizes to achieve proper tension and shaping throughout the project.
The plain mince pie chocolate cover begins by casting on 21 stitches using 4mm needles and tan yarn. The opening section features a repeating pattern of knit 2, purl 1 stitches alternated with purl rows to create visual interest at the top edge. Progressive decreases—first reducing to 20 stitches, then 15 stitches, and finally 10 stitches—gradually shape the cover to fit snugly around the Ferrero Rocher chocolate. These quick-knit projects can be completed in minutes, making them ideal for crafters seeking fast, satisfying results using minimal yarn quantities.
