Product Description
Harry and Hatty are best friends. Both hares follow the same pattern in different colours. There are 2 outfits to knit too, a jacket for Harry and a pinafore dress for Hatty. Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the toys are knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
Harry and Hatty Hare Knitting Pattern
What is Being Made
Harry and Hatty Hare is a pair of toy hares designed by Amanda Berry. These are charming knitted stuffed animals suitable for children or as decorative pieces. The pattern includes instructions for creating two distinct hares—Harry in grey and Hatty in cream—along with coordinating knitted outfits. Each hare is a small, portable project requiring less than 30 grams of yarn per toy.
Techniques and Construction Methods
The hares are constructed using fundamental knitting techniques appropriate for intermediate-level crafters. The pattern employs seaming to join knitted pieces together, creating a three-dimensional stuffed toy. A tapestry needle is used to weave seams and finish the garment pieces. The toys are stuffed with toy filling to achieve their plush, dimensional form. Embroidery is used to add facial details, specifically for creating the noses using black DK yarn.
The outfits are also knitted separately and designed to dress the completed hares, adding versatility and visual interest to the finished toys.
Stitches Used
While the PDF excerpt does not provide a complete stitch list, the pattern utilizes standard knitting stitches typical of toy construction. The intermediate difficulty level suggests the use of basic stitches combined in strategic ways to shape the hare bodies and clothing pieces.
